Top 5 free antiviruses

[Image]When it comes to your PC security obviously the first thing that comes to our mind is the Anti Virus. We take a lot of pain in selecting a good Anti Virus; probably the best that is available . Many believe that none of the Free Antivirus out there can't match up to the paid counter parts. But the cheapest or better 'free' of the lot might perform better than the costliest. Here is a list of FREE ANTIVIRUS that you could choose from.

>Avast Antivirus Home Edition
This one is the recommended one of the lot. Its simple, powerful and hassle free. The user interface is pretty simple. It's detection rates (85-92%) are way high than some of the paid ones. Even if you have a Dial-up connection the updates happen pretty quick and it does automatically every time you connect to the net. In order to use Avast you'll have to do a free registration and the key will be sent to shortly.

>Avira Antivir
This one is popular than Avast. I had problems with Antivir when I tried to install it along with Avast. But Avast didn't seem to bother about two antivirus being installed on a single computer. Detection rates are pretty high about 80-90%. If you didn't like Avast this might be the one to look forward to.

>AVG Free
Another very popular Antivirus. This one has a decent past, Used to be the grand daddy of Antiviruses. But lately it has begun to loose the soil under its feet. The updates are usually long, pretty much because the have updates very often. I would only recommend this if you have that nostalgic feeling or if your a die-hard fan.

>Clamwin AV
This one comes as a portable antivirus too and very much useful if you always carry around an external HDD or Thumb Drive with you. I suggest you update it after downloading cause it doesn't have update or new versions very often.

>Spybot Search And Destroy
I know this is not an Antivirus and i have only included it here is because we all know about malware, viruses, Trojans but many are not aware of spyware or adwares. Some times these things are more irritating than viruses and Antiviruses are often spectators. If you need that extra cushion of protection  this one might be worth having.

Even in-spite having the best Antivirus you could be affected. I take no responsibility of these Antivirus giving you complete protection. Because NO antivirus has 100% detection rates. However to be even close that mark you'll have to update your antivirus daily or at least weekly. Millions of viruses are hitting the net every hour and only way to stay safe is to update
