Manthra To Clear Your Desktop Clutter

[Image]There is no better software to sort out a cluttered desktop than fences. If you are one of those like me, who find it hard to keep their desktops clean and in order at least for a few days then you've come to the right place. I'll show you how to keep everything in place using this simple software called Fences. Fences basically creates many small and large rectangular boxes on the desktop onto which you can drag and drop icons, files, folders etc.
First of all download and install Fences in your computer. After a system reboot fences throws you two options, whether to 'Sort out your icons automatically' or 'Create your own fence'. I suggest you select the former, as you are new to Fences. But after some getting used to, I'm sure you'll be able to create new fences with ease. There is an added option to save your current desktop positions. Although you won't be needing it most probably, I suggest you save the positions before you begin. just in case if you decide to uninstall Fences and also to be one the safer side.

After sorting out, you'll see fences like Recent, Programs, Files and Documents etc on the desktop. If you want to create new fence, click and drag on the desktop using the right mouse button and select 'Create new fences here' You can name your fences by right clicking on it and selecting 'Rename Fence...'. You can also resize and move your fences. To customize it Even further, open the application interface and click on the 'Customize' tab. You can adjust the transparency of your fences and also the brightness, hue and saturation. To change the colour of your labels to go with the theme, select 'Change label text colour'.

If you don't want labels on the fences, you can select 'Never' under 'Show labels...' or if you just want them to appear when the mouse moves over it, you can select 'On mouse over'. The scroll bar which appears when there are many icons inside the same fence can some times make your desktop look much worse than it originally was. For that select 'Fade out scroll bars when inactive'. This will make sure that scroll bars don't appear when it's idle. If you suddenly find your desktop filled  and out of space, Fences can help with that too. It has an option to change the size of icons, reduce it to a good size which is both readable and also retains it's eye candy. You can also pull pranks on your younger siblings using Fences. Double clicking on the desktop, hides all the fences. Double click again and voila every thing's back to normal.

If you want to customize your desktop even further, there is a Pro version available, which has lots of additional features like rules for auto organising icons into Recent, Most used etc, auto organising using file types and many more fence customization options. Drop in your comments after you use Fences. Happy Fencing !
